GRAPES TO GRASSLANDS

native grassland
ACAMPO, CA | 2023

This soon-to-be-built 0.4-acre patch of native grassland will serve as a model landscape for future habitat and corridor restoration projects at LangeTwins, a family-owned winery with a strong sustainability narrative. The grassland is designed to provide valuable, diverse, multi-seasonal pollinator habit for various life cycles stages of beneficial insects, birds, and other wildlife. This four-season interest also impacts the everyday experience of the client by enhancing the appearance and functionality of River Ranch, the family’s home. The site is located adjacent to the Mokelumne River, which occasionally floods, so the plant palette includes species that are both drought-tolerant and able to withstand occasional inundation.
