THE TACO TRUCK OF NURSERIES
Miridae Mobile Nursery is a customized box truck that transforms into a curbside native plant shop.
Our goal is to bring people together through plants and gardening. We host pop-up sales in neighborhoods and at local businesses throughout the Sacramento region, with a wide range of beautiful and ecologically beneficial plants to choose from!
HOST THE NURSERY AND GROW COMMUNITY
Are you someone who loves to bring people together? Become a Mobile Nursery host!
Hosting is simple, fun, and free. Anyone can do it! We’ve been invited to private residences, breweries, garden clubs, even weddings! Whether your goal is to bring neighbors together, draw people to your business, or create an event for your organization, the Mobile Nursery can help make that happen.
In addition to sales, we also provide native plant talks, workshops, and the Miridae Living Labs table!
NATIVE PLANTS ARE OUR PASSION
Native plants enrich urban ecosystems and have evolved to support other species—insects, birds, mammals, and more—that also call California home.
Miridae Mobile Nursery is proud to offer one of the largest retail selections of native plants in the area. And if you’re new to native plants or gardening, our knowledgeable team members are eager to answer your questions!
MEET THE MOBILE NURSERY TEAM
Billy (the founder of Miridae!) completed his PhD in Ecology at UC Davis where he focused his research on native plant-insect interactions. Billy also holds a Bachelor of Science from Brown University and serves on the board of directors for the California Native Grasslands Association.
Caroline is the co-founder of Miridae Living Labs and loves all things bugs! She is excited to use the Miridae Mobile Nursery as an educational tool to engage local communities. Caroline is currently in the final steps of completing her PhD in Ecology at UC Davis, where she deciphers spatiotemporal patterns of non-native insects in California. She holds a Bachelor degree from Bryn Mawr College and has worked in state biodiversity programs, education, geospatial consulting, and science editing.
Grace manages the Miridae Mobile Nursery community events and native plant pre-orders. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Horticulture at UC Davis where she cultivated an admiration for California’s diverse native plants and landscapes. Grace is happy to talk native plants with anyone and finds the Mobile Nursery to be a unique and fun method of bringing that conversation to a variety of people.
Design: We'd like to give a shout out to our Landscape Architect, Kate, and Landscape Designer, Rowan, for designing the Mobile Nursery and to Billy, Miridae's owner, for engineering it!
